Bonza Airline Discussion

They probably should have scheduled that a few weeks ago if the aircraft was sitting idle. Jetstar said they got everyone to the concert via other ports also. Not sure if Bonza just flew empty.

Bit of free publicity before they axe a whole heap of OOL flights in 3 weeks?

Yeah thats just weird. Imagine having an empty spare B737 sitting around today of all days given the expected traffic around the country and especially into Melbourne, revenue management asleep it seems? Unless Bonza canceled something else instead that that particular aircraft was supposed to fly.

That spare aircraft sits idle outside of operating MCY-OOL-ABX three or four times a week.

It’s clear a few days this week would probably break some profit records on some routes.

At least one MCY bound flight ended up at OOL today. I think just one but still not ideal but given due to the weather.

Two ended up diverting. The MEL aircraft is currently flying OOL-MCY to operate the Avalon flight which is running nearly 4 hours late.

The TSV aircraft is showing as cancelled, so it will stay the night and operate OOL-ABX tomorrow.
and the surprise is that AB managed to scramble a crew together to take the spare a/c in MCY to MEL for the "TayTay" concert (and back).
Funny you say that, I was supposed to fly Flonza OOL-MEL last weekend and the flight was cancelled due to 'crew requirements.'

Turns out the MCY base literally had no spare crew available that day, so the Flair aircraft and crew were pulled off my flight and ferried up to operate MCY-AVV.

The two Flair aircraft have now been given names like the rest of the Bonza fleet.

C-FLHI is named 'Bruce' and C-FLKC is 'Matilda.'

There have been rumours floating around that the Flair aircraft will stay. Given they're just getting names now, I'd say it's plausible.

Remains to be seen if the Flair crew stick around too, or if these aircraft end up on the Australian register.

Apparently also rumours across the other forums that the 2 "Flonza" Aircraft may be moved over to the Australian register, as well.

I do wonder if those Flonza aircraft will eventually be repainted if the Canadian to Australian register transfer rumour is correct. I would assume those Canadian crew will still be flying home at the end of the initial wetlease I guess.

I assume that is why they chucked on a SYD-ADL $29 flight to prove they are not targeting Bonza.

Generally AVV-SYD is the bargain basement flight but it’s $34 this time!

I had to do a double take when I read this headline. Did I misrepresent the data?
No I didn't. That's a pretty poor angle to take from the ABC think. It says something when News Corp is being more factual...1000001053.png1000001050.png

Both BS stories.

Not sure why Jetstar get's a free pass from news.com.au ... they must be spending a bit on advertising. Basically the headline refers to them beating Virgin in on time arrivals. ignoring the stats and buried later in the story that Qantas and Rex performed better than Jetstar, but hey I guess they're not "rivals" for Jetstar!

I guess in the ABC's defence, it was published by ABC Mildura, and they probably care more about OTP at Mildura - and the three ports Bonza fly to from there - but it doesn't need to dredge into the December statistics, which is irrelevant to the January stats. Obviously no commercial interest, I wonder if the author was one of the ones affected personally in December.

Both headlines and their articles are pathetic.

Agree. Especially considering they are the select few Bonza routes that qualify to be measured on the individual route and airport breakdowns, those being MEL-MQL/OOL/MCY.

Although in their defence it was a local news story from ABC Mildura. I can sort of understand why they mainly care about OTP at MQL plus the three destinations served from there. But no need to dredge up December though.
