Bonus Velocity Status Credits for VA flights - Book & fly between 12 January and 31 March 2026

It's typical VA. Looking at this thread. It's not even easy for everyone to actually find the "offer" once logged in etc. it's also as most people seem to be saying, are going to fall short of renewal in status by some margins further up the status chain, unlikely that max of 125 SC is going to make much difference. Perhaps the DSC on QF is much more appealing still.

I was in the Virgin Lounge in Sydney on the weekend. Thinly attended - it was Wonderful. So a ✔️ for thinning out the lounges (I wonder where everyone went? To the Qantas already-overcrowded lounges? 🤣 ). But the plane down to Hobart was packed. My free Economy X seat was pretty good though.

I think the current situation is great!

I've got Plat+ locked in this year with VA, PPS/Gold renewal with SQ is 1 flight away and I still have to do a LHR run in April.
Despite not being a QF fan, a bne-syd-sin-lhr-sin-syd-bne in J on QF with double SCs would net me Plat there......
Tempting to be honest.

If the SYD lounge is overcrowded the upstairs lounge has probably four or five people in it. But as it doesn't have a proper range of food, just a barista and a few snacks if you are lucky, you have to go downstairs for food. I'm only ever in there for breakfast so I don't know what it's like for afternoon flights. But I couldn't be bothered going up there most of the time.
They had it closed for so many years people forgot about it. They did occasionally announce it was open when it returned but I haven't heard that for a while.

You would think they could turn upstairs into a Plat + lounge.
Wishful thinking I know.

I'm going to miss my Economy X, that was a great benefit for me, maybe a little less so these days with the new configuration but still a great benefit... and the guaranteed/known upgrades, this waiting for a bone to be thrown by QF is bollocks!!

what advantage does this offer those who really fly VA? Don't see any sweetener in this
Not much unless you happen to be ~100SC from Plat Plus. Which is why I won’t be participating in this promo. Had they offered a QF style promotion I would have maxed out my forward booking and easily make plat plus.

May I ask whether this was Saturday or Sunday?

In my experience, Virgin Lounges are quietest on Saturdays and busiest on Sundays (and Friday evenings). So if it was thinly attended on a Saturday, that's nothing new. But if you experienced a thinly attended Lounge on a Sunday, that would indeed be evidence that something is changing!

Mrs Jase and I already have 23 J sectors booked on VA each for this year to attend the AFL and NRL but neither of us are crediting to VA anymore.
Love the flights and their staff but the program just isn’t worth much to us anymore.
Definitely have noticed some differences in the lounges some some thinning of the herd has happened

This has got to be satire! Are there actually people who go to the airport, pay the exorbitant parking and the go through the hassle of going through security to have pretty substandard (free) food?
Back in the day, a mate of mine and his mining buddies used to go to MEL to pre-load in the QF lounge before heading into the city. A couple of shared cab fares easily recouped by the free grog/food. It's all stopped now of course, probably because of this sort of thing, but given the price of a shout at the pub these days, I reckon it'd be more popular than ever. Some "influencer" would have trumpeted it as a "hack" for sure.
