Boeing news | Boeing Commercial chief Carson replaced by defense head Albaugh | Seattle Times Newspaper

Following a meeting of the Boeing board early last week, Boeing Commercial Airplanes president and chief executive Scott Carson has been replaced by Jim Albaugh, head of Boeing's defense division.

Carson, 63, will step down as of Tuesday and will retire from the company at the end of the year, the company said Monday afternoon.

In a conference call Monday, Boeing chairman and chief executive Jim McNerney referred several times to "Carson's decision to retire" and insisted that Carson had asked to step down.

The pressure of the B787 delays got to him!

Does anyone think he "stepped down" or do we believe it was a push?

Cant say it's overly surprising, it actually more surprising more middle and upper management havent fallen on their swords / been pushed off the edge.

No doubt in my mind that he was pushed.

when someone "elects" to retire, its always the save face for your time is up.. we had the same issue with our MD..

Not always.

I have just recently gone on extended leave prior to early retirement and I certainly was not pushed:!:

In any case we will never know the answer to whether Scott Carson was pushed or not.

Jim Albauch and his team at Boeing Defence have a reputation of delivering "The Goods" on time, on budget, to their customers around the globe. Just hope the troubled 787 program doesn't make him another casualty.....

Cheers Dee
