So looks like I’ll be going to Taiwan at the end of September for work. Looking up flights ex BNE on the QF website and I can save some money from my budget AND earn some extra SCs by doing an BNE->SYD/MEL->HKG->TPE leg. All on QF except the last leg is on China.

Any other ideas? QFF Bronze so now that I’m back travelling, I’d like to make the most of the opportunity to earn.

Why go direct when you can connect!
Exactly my thoughts.

I saw that there are also a pattern of Cathay flights that do the same, but wondering if it’s worth the drop in SCs…

Now to manifest a Qantas pub membership to make the connections and waits worthwhile…

You can definitely find CX for the last leg too but as with all CX legs, need to be careful on if the booking class earns or not.

CX also flies some interesting planes between HKG and TPE. We were on the regional 777 there and a321Neo back which was pretty new last week.

Although I imagine this probably won't be the most budget friendly option.

I think I’ll end up going BNE-SYD-HKG-TPE just to stay on the Roo as much as possible. Then only the 2hr HKG-TPE leg is on China.
