My wife and I are going to London next September for a month. We want to go Business class as we are getting to old for Economy. Malaysian has some good prices at the moment ($6000 return) and very tempted but I'm a QFF and flight times dont suit but could live with them. Is it it the right time now to buy or will there be more sales early next year to wait for. Looking forward to your expertise.

Finnair often have good fares in J and points and SCs can be credited to QF. A lot of their flights are code shares on QF metal too.

You might consider booking Malaysian Airlines from 1st Feb when they join OneWorld then you'll rack up lots points.

Given its for travel next Sept, it does not matter when its booked in terms of getting points in J I suspect. Its pretty hard to predict J fares, I suspect QF will bring out a nice 2 for 1 sale soon, maybe when the EK deal is done????

Thanks for your comments. My Flight Centre man told me Malaysian is a good price and I should grab it. If I book now and fly in September will I get QFF points re Oneworld???

No guarantees but as your are in J, its unlikely to have J fares excluded from earn.

Yes expect celebratory pricing upon announcement.

When are we expecting announcement?

I'm also in the "MH price looks seriously good" camp.

Have you considered getting a quote and/or advice from from a travel agent other than Flight Centre? They don't have the best reputation.

Missed the Malaysian promo pricing. Still available to LHR but not return. I'm now looking forward to a celebration with QF and EK when deal is done.

It might be worth looking at flyl4l.com (Fly Luxury for Less). They advertise big discounts for Business & 1st Class travel. I haven't used them myself, but would be interested to hear your experience if you try them. Happy travelling.

Virgin Australia has BNE-LHR return for around $6.5k in J. You and your wife could join Velocity you could both reach Gold. If you family pool you would have enough SCs for a Platinum membership for one of you, although you would have to do some domestic flights to reach the required 8 sectors.

Of course your Flight Centre man told you that you should grab it, he wanted the commission.

I second the advice to get a quote elsewhere (and no I don't mean me).

6k is a good price but it's not so great that you won't find anything just as good going forward.
