Hi all, looking at MXP next year and note that SQ don't fly F all the way. Does that mean that I just book two separate reward bookings. First leg in F and second in J . If this is the case do I have to collect baggage at Changi and re check in for J leg SIN-MXP . Many thanks. ps: is there any work around ??.

Someone else with experience with SQ can confirm some of these.

I would have thought that SQ would allow mixed class redemptions. The downside is that if you choose F on the flight to SIN and J on the flight to MXP, if it were allowed as one ticket, my assumption is that you would still be charged as F (i.e. the value of the F redemption from Australia to Europe).

If my calculations hold correct, paying F from Australia to Europe as one redemption is still cheaper in points than paying two redemptions consisting of F Australia to Singapore then J Singapore to Europe. So even if you were prepared to go only F on the first (shorter) sector to Singapore, you're still better off investigating if you can get it all onto one redemption. It may come to that you have to call the call centre and claim that it is impossible to find your redemption online (this should allow you to still access the 15% discount and avoid any assistance fees).

In any case, even with two redemptions, you should not have to recheck your bags in Singapore. Since both your flights are on SQ, they should be good enough to check through your bags at the origin port in Australia. It'd be daft silly if they could not do that.

I wouldn't disagree with anything you said anat0l. Mark4217, just make sure you work out what the points cost should be (full F fare less 15% discount) so you know what you should be charged when you call up.

Alternatively, fly F all the way to ZRH and make your way down to MXP from there ;)

Thanks anat01 and LadyC, much appreciated. And thanks anat01 on the other thread :)

Oh, I did notice that when I use the KF app to book, and in particular F it only shows the full trip in J stating " one leg is unavailable in F bla bla " . So yes it will definitely require a call. Knowing the points required less the 15% is a must . Thanks again.

Best advice I can give is NEVER use the App - it is useless and will only end in tears.

Your previous post indicated you found a fault with the App did it not? If so why / how could you use it as a guide with any confidence? I think I probably make more SQ rdpt booking annually than most AFFers - on the advice of KF call Ctr agents I NEVER use the App - it just causes too many probs - but if you want to use it then go for it.

Yes easy to make mixed class rdpts - just call KF and they will def honour the 15% disc as they cannot be booked online - go to their award chart and calc reqd miles at F rate before calling.

Ditto this sentiment, however the app does still have some uses. It's a very handy tool for quickly checking your already booked flights and another useful tip is that it's the only way you can select your seats on a redemption booking through another program (such as Velocity). Once you have the SQ booking code, the app will let you choose seats when the website will not.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Except for the one major flaw where it doesn't show ALL existing bookings if you have more than a handfull.

Ahhh, I'm sure you're right CE, most of us don't sit on the crazy number of booked flights I'm sure is on your account!!! I stand by the useful tip of seat choice on other program redemption flights :)
