Hi all,
probably a silly question. I have booked my daughter and friend on a rewards booking. The journey starts in Brisbane domestic to Mel.
BNE detarts 11:00am arriving MEL at 1:20pm to connect to a 3:00pm EY flight to London via AUH. My question is will they have enough time from MEL domestic to get to MEL International. They have an hour and a bit. As the flights are on the same PNR I would assume they book them straight through. or do they have to get their luggage off the Virgin domestic and go to Etihad desk and re-check-in. Cheers M

Should be fine- MEL is a very easy airport to transit as you just walk from one terminal to the other.

Luggage should be checked all the way through to London from Brisbane. They shouldn't have to touch it in Melbourne.

Oh, BYW my daughter and friend are 16 and 17 years old, there wouldn't be any issues regarding age ??.

And what about hotel bookings in London ??. I will book the rooms from here but does she require the credit card at point of check in ?

generally yes, most hotels want credit cards for incidentals etc.
Also some have issued when its only underage people staying. I would email the hotel and check, but avoid mentioning your names or booking reference just incase you don't like the answer but decide to book still.
I doubt most will ask for any ID on check in just a scan of the credit card for the file.

Check in BNE should give them OPCs, and they can fill them in in BNE to save time.
I usually fill the OPCs before the flight, so that no chance of making errors with turbulance while on flight.
E gates for Australian departures in MELi should come on line mid year says the AusBT.
Wont affect them in BNE.
For a linked PNR (tic), they should not have to approach the Etihad desk in MEL, as all checks would have been done in BNE.
When I fly VA and NZ linked tic, unless I fly J and want an Expresspath card, I dont have to approach NZ counter, once checked in ADL with VA (as op carrier), in MEL/SYD, I just go through outgoing security (bodyscan) and immigration.

Mooingchicken, even here in Australia, when I check into some hotels, (except Ibis Budget), they do ask for photo id.
Most recently, it was the Abbey on Roma St, Brisbane, ...
