As I am flying to the US for 1 week in November for the StarMegaDo and now upgraded the ticket, I might be able to get a few points that I might be able to use.

Any suggestions between these 2 programs.

1. BMI
2. Continental One Pass.

I was wondering if there are any sign up bonuses at the moment, before I bite the bullet and sign up for one.

The Zone 1, Zone 1 on BMI seems like it could be useful, I just got to get to the UK but usually do that at least once a year; might even do it twice next year.

BMI's Diamond Club have a standard 500 mile bonus for signing up on their website. There are usually additional bonuses for first flights on bmi or bmibaby maybe.. but I can't help you much more than that!

But if you're looking for a long-term infrequent flyer program, BMI will be dying in 2012 I've heard, when Lufthansa ends them or something along those lines. It might be good if you want to get into the M&M program then. However, I think miles expiry and usage and stuff like that is not as great compared to diamond club.

Sorry I don't know too much about Continental One Pass. Have they even merged with United yet or any announcements been made for post-merger changes??

Seems like a very fun time to get into either of these programs!

BMI's programme is indeed expected to be terminated in mid 2011 and rolled into LH's Miles and More. While it lives, however, it is one of the best around for redemption value and tier and status bonuses.

I'm going to keep earning BMI until it dies for sure. Nothing is certain at this stage.
