I don't often bother/remember to log in and adjust my seats at T-80 but today I got on a few hours late for T-80 on my 6SEPT12 QF418 and found 4-9 DEF are still showing as blocked whilst I happily grabbed 4C with a the shadow of 4A taking up 4B.

Any idea why some seats are showing as blocked even at T-80? (And some of those blocked seats are selectable for me on QF)

Out of curiosity, are you WP as well as LTG?

As to 9A/F, they frequently show as blocked on EF, but I can always select them through QF's advance seat selection if so desired. I believe it's due to the absence of a window in this row. As to the other rows, perhaps they are being held for high-status pax making last-minute bookings? A check at T-25/T-24 could perhaps unlock some of these seats, though I think you'd be happier in 4C :p

Thanks, I'm currently only Gold, my QFF number is listed on my EF profile too.
I have no interest in grabbing any of the other seats, I just found it odd that they are blocked out.

PCV and Notional seats - every domestic booking can see a different map after T-80 ...

Could be assistance passengers on the flight who have not had their seats assigned yet. They normally end up sitting in rows 5,6,7,8 on the right side.

Out of interest I just looked at the seat map on expert flyer under my account as a P1 and got the following seat map. Certainly a lot more open than what you received.

Mostly in the D seats that have the wheelchair icon. However, as per serfty's post these are most likely blocked for higher "value" passengers who have not checked in or selected a seat yet. Notional seats.

Internally, Qantas use Altéa of which the only public way to see availability is when selecting seats/checking in on Qantas.com.

The seat map E/F returns from Amadues is a constructed generalised approximation.

But why does the block primarily apply to the right hand side of the plane? And from what I understand Qantas have setup Altea to give a boost in PCV to certain passenger types such as assistance passnegers and families.

Remember the OP is a gold QFF member. IIRC prior to T-80 they can only select row 11 rearwards. I'd guess what your seeing are those seats in row 4-10 that have become available after T-80.

Every seat map and be different. I have seen port seats blocked and starboard seats allocated/shadowed.

SSR's are taken into account for PCV reckoning.

I find on some of the busier flights it is not easy to get out of the 3rd row of economy into the 1st or 2nd rows.

Perhaps Qantas leaves the block there longer than usual.

Perhaps it is a glitch.
