All good things come to an end. Scenic drive back to ZQN, and back on a one class NZ bird to AKL

That’s it. Blanket Bay is a wonderful property and I have no hesitation in recommending all AFFers to stay here.

We’ll certainly be back - still got to get that heli flight over Milford Sound done and dusted.

The next report will be a few weeks away. A mixture of QF / CX F - QF / BA / CX J to Paris and back:)

All the food at the lodge looked stunning and sounded delicious. I bet the food on the plane on the way home tasted like chaff in comparison!

I always enjoy your TR and get slightly green (actually very) but good luck to you

Great photos too - thanks

Looks like lovely place. Is it adults only?

Yes .... and no. Kids under 10 are not welcome. However, if you stump up for the villa - you can bring and do whatever you want.

What a beautiful lodge. And the scenery of New Zealand, particularly the south island... Amazing. Thanks for sharing your trip.

Tourism NZ should provide you with a commission because I'm back looking at flights to Queenstown again!

Thank you @amaroo for sharing your TR on this stunning lodge and surrounds. I have been down around Glenorchy & Kinloch areas previously but wasn't aware of this magnificent turn out Blanket Bay. The South Island of NZ is very hard to beat. The lodge was in a Stunning setting which would have made the sundowners taste even better, the tucker looked first rate. What was the verdict on the 2012 Amisfield Reserve Pinot Noir. I'll keep my eye out for the upcoming Paris trip. Cheers

I am also planning another NZ trip after reading this! Thanks for taking the time to write it. The pics are sensational.
Was two nights enough? (Please say yes because my budget is unlikely to extend to 3!)

In my opinion no less than 2 and probably no more than 3 nights at these full / half board places hits the sweet spot. It allows sufficient time to do and see what you need. Some people stay for a month - but that would drive me crazy.

Unless you're into something specific like fishing, skiing, golfing .... two nights is perfect IMO.

The Amisfield was superb. If I had to make a call it would be Dry River .... by a hair's breadth.

Looking forward to Paris even more now! In the past week we've changed every flight we booked way back in May last year. Stay tuned.... something different for the amaroos coming up.
