I've just grabbed a cheap RTW J ticket for $6,750 incl taxes for a business trip in Sep/Oct/Nov, flying SYD-BKK-FRA-LHR-FRA-LAX-SYD, and using TG, LH & QF.

Firstly, I've got a 7 hour wait at BKK, so which is the best Royal Silk lounge to use (since I'm flying LH J)? From what I can understand, there are four to choose from;

  • Royal Silk Lounge at Concourse D, Level 3
  • Royal Silk Lounge at Concourse C - East, Level 3
  • Royal Silk Lounge at Concourse C - West, Level 3
  • Royal Silk Lounge at Concourse E - East, Level 3
Looking at the Thai website, the best would appear to be Royal Silk Lounge at Concourse C - West, as it has showers and slumber rooms (whatever they are?!?!). Any advice on this would be great!

Secondly, I'm flying LH J, which from many reviews don't get a great write up! However, after a few whiskeys and a sleeping pill, I'm usually out like a light, so the fact the the seat isn't fully flat doesn't worry me (I've flown on QF J a number of times and slept well). Can anyone pass on comments on the service and their previous experience with LH J?

Lastly, the LAX-SYD leg is on QF A380, and have requested seat 25A. Can anyone suggest a better option?

Cheers.

My parents recently did that sector in 12J and 12K, up in the front business cabin. Because it was dark all the way there was no traffic to the "lounge"/bar, and they both got 8 hours sleep.
