The lorikeets have returned after 20+ years. Out in the garden weeding under a magnolia tree and this fellow observed me for about 20 minutes before deciding I was not a threat. So down he came. I took the phone out of my pocket and he thought there was more to see.




Took an interest in my shirt buttons but decided they were inedible.

"Muddy" loves s(h)itting on my car.


Our resident mudlark disappeared for awhile but came back a few weeks ago with "Mini Muddy" - yet to get a snap of him/her.

The swans are back for Christmas.

Our town is quiet now school holidays are over with no one on the beach, hence a peckish seagull.


And a mudlark, don't usually see them at the beach.

This young daredevil come into my study, which meant a path via the back door and through the kitchen and a bit of the hallway. The dog startled it across the hall into the lounge and pounced on it, briefly, without causing any harm. It flew around a bit before getting caught up in the curtains where I gently wrapped him up and took him out the back for release. I should have let him go out the front porch as that's where his family was, squawking instructions or encouragement presumably. They're terrifically inquisitive birds and super smart and this one was non-plussed at being manhandled, forgoing the instinct to peck at me. This family are relentless with teasing the poor hapless but ever-optimistic dog who almost landed a blow.

A few feathered friends spotted during our recent cruise from Cairns to Darwin. (Don't ask me to name them!)

We were also birding from a cruise ship that stopped in Santo, Vila, Mystery Island and Lifou. The only decent shot I got was a cute Cardinal Myzomela from the beach in Mystery Island. The other places were very foresty and the birds stayed high in the trees, couldn't get a clear shot.

I'll take your word for these bird names. Thanks for improving my knowledge. I only knew the white bellied sea eagle. Magnificent bird.
