Big 3 US airlines all increase checked baggage fees

Delta, United and American Airlines have all raised their checked baggage fees by $5. JetBlue made the first move last month and United quickly followed, setting off a chain reaction.

So it now costs USD30 to check in the first bag on major US airlines (formerly USD25) and USD40 for the second bag (up from USD35). Considering the amount of carry-on that Americans take on board, a further disincentive to check in bags is not exactly what the US needs...
