Bid for upgrade question

I just tried to bid for upgrade with an Elevate fare and it was deemed ineligible. I’ve never had any fare not eligible for a bid for upgrade with Virgin before. Is there some new policy that only Freedom fares are eligible? This is for a flight from KNX-PER.

Definitely 737-800 with biz as one in our party booked J. I haven’t looked at a points upgrade as all my points were transferred to Singapore Airlines due to the bankruptcy.

I have also noticed this in the past week. I also note some flights won't display business class fares for purchase when searching. When you scroll across Getaway -> Elevate -> it just stops at Freedom. Particularly flights that are more than one leg.

Could be a glitch?

A change has gone through that Business Saver fares aren't available to book within four weeks of departure.

Apparently reservations cannot fix the bid for upgrade problem. So no extra money for you Virgin Australia!

Rather than a new thread I'll put this in here.

Back to flying VA after about 10 years as QF have lost the plot with pricing and service.

Have a flight next week with an UpgradeMe offer in just above the minimum. Seat map and dummy booking shows 2 seats free so might be OK... Earlier flights empty in J...

Should I check in online as soon as I can or wait ?

I have heard/read that someone but can't find the post again about that.

Will wait and check-in at the airport I think, it can't hurt as Y is quite empty

When my upgrade bid has been successful, it's usually come through around T-24 to T-20. If there's still no outcome by then, I wait until T-4 before checking in online (or earlier if I can see that the business cabin is already full).
