G'day All.

I am hitting PER in late July - and intending on booking J over there.

2 Day conference (Thurs/Fri) - so Fly in PER late Wednesday, and Leave PER to BNE at 11.30pm - arrive BNE about 5.30am Saturday, then there is a Q400 Flight up to Hervey Bay at around 7.30-8am so that works, and saves me having to book a 3rd night at the hotel.

I see at the moment there is a promo on ASA's between BNE and PER - however, the promo is only for Economy (that I can see)

So wondering if I could book Economy then do a further upgrade later?

Even doing a JASA is about 72k points - which I don't have all of that right now, even if I bought 20k points (top up) I'd probably just scape under that, so I need to wait a few months to get to that point.

Booking direct in J is about $3k - so, vs $400 economy - so doing JASA is looking better :)

Sorry if I've kinda gone around in a big circle -

Anyone have any tips or tricks that may assist?

Thanks!

Some YASAs are upgradeable - check the conditions when booking.

The problem is, even if they are upgradeable, it depends on availability, which I think is always difficult on routes to PER. Plus you only earn points and SCs at the originally booked class (ie. Economy) whereas if you book upfront as a JASA you earn at the Business rates.

You will need 72kpoints for Classic or about 86k for a JASA to go BNE-PER return.
The bargain this morning is Classic at 30% off for economy so you can do a return for 25,200 points plus a few charges.

I just realised, the current 30% promo it for travel upto 30 June, so I don't even qualify! Duh!

I was under the impression the promo wasn’t for ASA’s anyway, only classic awards, and they can’t be upgraded?

Yes,I did not mean to tease you on the sale.
Also book the accommodation early as Perth is very full when you look for a room close to the travel date.
