I want to take advantage of the Global Sale prices and book Y MEL-HKG and then PE HKG-SYD-MEL on the return, figuring that Economy is fine on a day flight, especially when I've had a massage in the F lounge beforehand.

I know Qantas website and telephone team don't seem to allow this, but can anyone discuss their experiences doing something like this through a different website or good TA? $1398 return in PE is good but Economy return is half that, so I was hoping a mixed class fare would price somewhere in between.

It'll probably price out around $1200 having tried pricing something similar previously. QF telesales can do it but not all agents are competent enough to do it and you will probably cop the phone booking fee too. Otherwise any competent travel agent will also be able to do it.

For the record you can mix the following on a commercial return fare:

Economy / Premium Economy
Business / First

You cannot mix the following:

Economy / Business
Economy / First
Premium Economy / Business
Premium Economy / First

Hi ftm - any information you have on booking this would be great (via PM if you prefer).

Similar issue for me, when booking trips to Singapore - often the flight up is already sold out in Premium and I can't connect in time from ADL for the BNE-SIN flight.

Hi Aussie,

With a GDS it is quite straightforward to book we just select the applicable cabin for each leg of the journey and then price it on a half return basis. Fast and easy! Happy to help next time you need it.
