Hi all myself my wife and 12 year old Son will be heading for Iceland in mid September, we are staying in Reykjavik for 6 nights
Can anyone recommend some must see sights or Tours to go on, and should I be booking Tours now or will it be ok when we are there to book

Thanks

If you go to the Black Beach, go a bit further to Glacier Bay to see the ice/icebergs. You can do a boat trip through the ice if you want.

Visit some of the local pools, they're kids friendly and most have family rooms to wash/change.

Silfra for snorkelling or scuba or go horse riding, if that's your thing.

Iceland Street Food for a hearty meal, all you can eat meat and veggies in a bread bowl. No regrets.

Free bus shuttle from Harpa to Perlan will save you some $.

Iceland is a booming tourist country and there is a tour for everyone to most places.
Expect well organised and expensive tourist management procedures, it's a busy place.
Other than the crowded and well oiled coastal sights ; other interesting places off the coast tend to be undeveloped and difficult to access
I bounced my way down some wild inland F roads, way out in the boonies and miles from anywhere.
For 6 nights I would move along, rather than staying in Reykjavik which is really a busy little city with a pretty enough "old town".
Akureyri was , imo , a much prettier and more interesting place than Reyjkavic.
Unfortunately we had very limited time there but we would cheerfully return ; can't say the same for Reyjkavik and environs
