Have taken this flight numerous times in J but always alone. Inever really paid attention to people travelling together, Is it better to have a window and middle next to each other or both have a middle row next to each other ?.

I cannot remember if the middle partition lowers all the way.... I now realise how anti social I am on Air New Zealand compared to Virgin Australia !!

Personally I'd be choosing two windows, one behind the other. It doesn't look like any pairs of seats are going to be particularly good for travelling as a couple, and by the windows at least you both have control over light for the duration of the flight.

The middle partition definitely doesn't lower all the way. As per MEL_Traveller's post, I'd go for two window seats or two middle seats, one behind the other, e.g. 3A/4A or 5J/6J.
