Usually i'm alone and able to prebook a Row 1 seat for myself but am travelling with another SYD-HKG.
Are the 2 centre seats Row 2 best option I wonder? They have noone in front - maybe the window seats are closer than in Row 3 and also the business of trying to access the overhead lockers at Row 2 ...
Any thoughts?
Thank

Asked the same question a little while ago, seems to crop up quite often:

http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/community/your-questions/best-f-cabin-seats-4-a-19602.html

Having given it a roadtest a couple of times, we chose 3E/F, which were great. Had the chance of taking 4E/F with no one in 4A and K, which we should have tried as well.

The general gist is:

  • 1A/K - great for forward view, not so great due to the coat cabinet and distance between seats.
  • 2E/F - good seats together, a little public, awkward when pax in 2A or K try to access overhead storage while you're seated.
  • 3E/F - good seats together, a fair distance from 3A and K.
  • 4E/F - good seats together, but closer to 4A and K. Slightly more storage space between the seats than 3E/F, but right next to the galley.
  • 4A/E or 4F/K - separated by an aisle, but closer together than other seats across the aisle. Good if one of you wants to be on a window or needs additional storage space. Also closer to the galley.

No official first cabin to HKG until at least July, there is a chance your aircraft might turn into a A330 or a 747 with no F as a result.
Not true! F hasn't been discontinued for SYD-HKG, only MEL-HKG.

If the aircraft has an F cabin there is some discussion here: http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/com...-flyer-program/qantas-no-f-sfo-eze-21614.html

There most certainly is an official First cabin SYD-HKG - this routing occurred due to an downgrade on our original routing which was MEL-HKG - an A330 has been substituted. Qantas offered to re-route us via SYD on QF127 in First and i have an e-ticket which they reissued a couple of days ago to that effect. I know there have been many downgrades/plane changes as I've experienced them several times in the past year!
I have just checked on expertflyer and also on Qantas online booking and they are both showing First Class on QF127 on that date.

My parents regularly travel F (or UG to F from J) and think row 3 is best for couples and always try to get row 3E/F.

4 is too close to galley and people (crew/pax) coming in/out disturb you.
2 is too close to 2A/K

HI
I'm leaning towards Row 3 - i like the thought of Row 2 as there is noone in front of you and you get a bit of a view even though not at a window but I think that the window seats are pretty close in that Row.Many thanks!
