Best seats for a family with 2.5 year old

Hi, myself, partner and two year old will be travellling on

Terminal D

to Sydney.


We have taken our Daughter on plane's before, to Singapore, UK and NZ but now she is much older and more aware.

Any advice on best seats to try and book?

and any other usefull advice.

It's an wide open 767, plenty of seats. I presume you will have three so any three together for a Short flight would be fine.

EF would not let me see seating for some reason. But plenty of seats available.

You don't disclose status but I would go for the middle section, forward, and preselect

Right down the back is good close to the flight attendants so you can get help if you need it and close to the toilets if you need to change the baby

On a 767-338 you will find 3 toilets behind row 32, one normally is a larger disabled. The other 2 are down the back.

If we take a short domestic flight in whY on a 767, like this one, then I normally plum for 24 D, E and F (ie in the middle, up the front) when travelling with Marge and Lisa (or row 23 if the configuration has three seats in that row).

Only joking, I love the centre of the 767s. It has the best seating arrangement 2-3-2... Imagine Unitied's 777 - 2-5-2

It depends if you want a window or not. Some parents like having a window as being able to look outside can be a welcome distraction for a toddler. In this case select seats A,B & D (D will be across the aisle in centre section of 3 seats) or F,J & K which is the same set up on the right hand side of the aircraft.

Otherwise if you want 3 seats next to each other select seats DE&F as mentioned already by others above.

As you're travelling with a child you should be able to get a seat reasonably forward in the economy cabin.

Best thing to do is checkin online (OLCI) 24 hours before. Don't worry if you don't have a printer it will still work. When at BNE Airport go to the OLCI queue for bag drop assuming you have more than just carry on. This queue is generally shorter than the normal economy queue.

If you only have carry on go straight through security on arrival & see the City Flyer Desk who will be able to reprint your boarding passes if you couldn't print them out beforehand at home.

just kidding. As a parent of 4 & 6 year old I don't hear anyone's kids now.

Centre has always been good. arms go up and kids can stretch out. This is why the bulkhead row isn't always best.

Also, fill a video ipod up with kids stuff. wiggles, curious george, play school, etc.
The smaller screen doesn't worry them and it is easier to carry than a dvd player or ipad. Especially if you are carrying all the 2.5yr old stuff.
Also good for the wait in the gate or lounge before boarding.

My kids are going to get a rude shock when they start to travel by themselves. Comfy chairs, cheese and crackers, unlimited apple juice is not included in the normal ticket price....

They are on QF525 which is around 1130 for memory, so not out of whack with routine much.

You forget all the kids stuff you need to do, worry too much, once they move to other phases of their life.

It's a phase you go through, seems like forever at the time, even daunting for some but they grow up so quickly and we all move on!!
