Best route to Richmond,Virginia

Ideas needed please. I've got to travel from SYD to Richmond in the States next week and the itinerary that my Agent has just given me is:

22/8 QF11 @ 1325 into LA @ 0945
22/8 AA2442 @ 1156 into Dallas 1705
22/8 AA2092 @ 1939 into Richmond 2330

Is this the best looking effort? What would others consider? Looks like I'll be a very tired chap!

One world timetable indicates quickest alternative is:

22/8 QF11 @ 1325 into LA @ 0945
22/8 AA546 @ 1223 into Chicago@ 1834
22/8 AA4169 @ 1939 into Richmond 2243* (Embraer Reg Jet RJ140)

Using AA via ORD saved 45 minutes...but if you're travelling in J/F class, the last sector on American Eagle has no J/F.

Using UA via LAX & IAD - dep 14:45, arr 22:53. Via SFO and ORD a similar time.

AA7365 (=QF107) to LAX, then AA via ORD to RIC (22:43)

QF107 (1050) to LAX then Delta via ATL gets you to RIC at 19:40...

All seem pretty similar - two stops and around 22-23 hours. Depends on what time you want to arrive - the last option may help you get over jetlag...but possibly more expensive. Also, the two airlines are in different FF programmes. Are FFP critical?

Make your agent work - that's what they are (supposedly) paid for...

Welcome.

It's a long way, and it seems that any of the available itineraries are going to get you there in as good a timeframe as any other.

I'd go for whatever suits your FF program the best. If you don't have one, go for UA (enrol in Mileage Plus first) and you'll end up with just about enough miles to go to the Cook Is and back for free.
