Hi all,
I'm moving to New Zealand next week for 8 months & will need to get a sim for my iPhone.
Priority is for value for money on data for facetime/skype with friends family in Aus and the UK plus the odd TV show/movie downloads etc. Long story, but I'll have very limited wifi at the accommodation where I'll be staying, so looking to top up my usage via tethering/hotspot. Calls and texting less important than data but obviously will need some allowance.

Any ideas or knowledge out there in the AFF braintrust around best carrier, best deals/add-ons etc. Will be based in Hamilton in the Waikato region if that is relevant for coverage etc.

Apologies if this has been asked before recently... the last similar post I could find was from a couple of years ago and I guess things have changed quite a bit since then.

Many thanks...
D-H.

The three providers you should check are Telecom, Vodafone and 2 degrees. Coverage maps sound like they may be very important to you as is price. 2 degrees has international ( well at least Australia) included in the monthly credit. Not sure re data generosity

the $25 Telecom prepaid is the one to go. 500MB data (if i'm not wrong) + 100min call, very good signal coverage even when you drive in rural south island.
