With a trip to the UK (PER-SIN-LHR return),

Where is it most worthwhile place to get an iPad.

For comparison sake, I can see the new 64G wifi model for $690 from dutyfree.com.au

Would I be able to get it cheaper, and if so where?

Thanks:p

What should one 'saddle' oneself with? I have only ever used Windows, so am unsure what to get (and where to get it).

Well with my current trusty netbook i haven't yet found the need to move to a pad device of any sort, only one set of eyes and fingers etc... But the iTunes interface makes me reluctant to go with Apple products, but anyway this is O/T... Have you checked online or eBay??

USA is the cheapest, but as you're not going there then most probably Singapore.

Adapter plugs can be a pain though.

A few of the above suggestions are good.

If you buy the iPad from the Apple store in Perth you can claim the tax back under the TRS. If you choose to purchase one overseas the adapters are all universal and you can simply change the end to suit the country you are in.

Also, often you can find them at stores for discounted prices, otherwise try for a discount at the Apple store. They will discount up to 10%.

Why use adaptor plugs? I thought you could change the pins on the chargers with the use of the international kit?

I have an iPad and want to upgrade to an ASUS Transformer Infinity before I go OS next month. There are too many things about using Apple products which annoy or baffle me.

My mistake. I wasn't aware the i-pads had universal chargers. I assumed being apple they would have had their own, proprietry cost **** loads of money you must buy from me hardware and software.

Guess I'm wrong. :p;)

The best way to judge this is to go to the Apple website and check the prices for the various countries. I found in May that Australia was the best option between UK and Singapore once you allow for TRS refund. However, that did vary depending on model.

Sounds more like a downgrade to me, have ha terrible experiences with ASUS hardware :/

Careful, an Apple employee could be reading this... :) Its probably about the only way they haven't thought to gouge the fanbois... ;)

That upcoming change of pins for, is it the new iPhone, is a bit of a bummer isn't it...

They can't win can they... Don't change the connector and "apple don't innovate" change the connector and "apple are gouging their fanboys"...

Actually you need to ensure you get the 10W adapters as the iPod adapters don't have enough juice.

I'm sure poor $500 billion Apple Inc or Corp or whatever is big enough and bad enough to take such slurs on the chin... :)
