This is officially my first post.

Can any one please recommend the best method to get from JFK to our hotel near Times Square?

There is four of us traveling.

Thanks in advance.:D

If four are traveling together and sharing costs I would just go by cab.

Agree, especially if it is your first time there.

Otherwise catch the train (4*$5) to the subway line (4*$2.50) {$30} and then walk to your hotel. Unlikely to be far from a subway station. You'll probably need to change subway lines at some point.

The taxi fare from JFK to the city is fixed at $52 plus tip.

Flat Fare from John F. Kennedy (JFK) Airport:
For trips between (to and from) Manhattan and JFK International Airport, the flat fare is $52.00 plus any tolls using Rate Code 2 on the meter. A NY State Tax Surcharge of $.50 will be added to each trip.

Happy travelling and an official welcome to AFF.

With 4pax cab for sure.

We've used the bus to grand central (when one or two if us), and you could cab to Times Square from there, but again, time vs cost with 4 pax if definitely get a cab (fixed price to manhattan).

I've used Super Shuttle but that's probably more economical when travelling solo (and a bit slower).

Exactly.

Used to be ~ $17 o/w so $34 for two when cab was closer to $50 (incl tip).

No doubt those prices have changed (last used 2011). But ratio prob same. Bus took ~1hr. Cab closer to 40mins, both very traffic/weather dependant.

We, family of 4, booked very reasonable private transfers. Great service, punctual and $65 cash including tolls. Just checked their website and it is now$70. wirolimo.com

I haved trained it when travelling solo because it is the quickest option, however with 4 in the group I would definitely recommend a limo pick up - Dial7 as mentioned above is reputable, but there are others.

With 4 of you get a car service, its ez and comfortable, no waiting, you have an appropriately sized vehicle.

Thanks Everyone. Sounds like a car service will be the easiest......

Agree that taxi or car is best for four people. For one or two people rail is the cheapest, probably quickest way, and the most convenient unless you have large amounts of luggage. Options are:

AirTrain to Jamaica Station, Long Island Railroad to Penn Station, then a short walk (about 500 metres) to Times Square - cost $19.50. (the quickest way)

AirTrain to Jamaica Station, then E train subway to 42nd Street station (on 8th Avenue) - cost $7.25

AirTrain to Howard Beach Station, then A train subway to 42nd Street station (on 8th Avenue) cost $7.25

These stations are all wheelchair accessible, unlike most of the subway, so reasonable amounts of luggage are not a major problem.

I stayed in NYC for a week and bought a 7 day Metrocard for $30 which allows unlimited subway and bus travel. You need to use the airtrain to get to the appropriate train station, depending on the line and destination.
