It is not possible to use QFF points to upgrade a CX flight from J to F. But you could ask when you are checking in on your return let how much to pay to upgrade to First Class (if your fare allows it.)

Cheers

cathay Pacific only flys 2 class to Australia now - so no First class.

Even if they did, Qantas miles can't be used to upgrade on other oneworld carriers (unlike star alliance).

The only way to upgrade a CX flight would be (a) cash or (b) in the event of overbooking you might be lucky. I've had it happen to me several times. They are fairly good at looking after oneworld emeralds in the upgrade priority list.

Notwithstanding all of the above, if it HAD been possible then i would have said 'yes' - go for it. CXFirst class is one of the best alongside Swiss.

Re: Best J seats on CX A330 SYD -HK -PER

CX only operate the A33B configuration to Australia now. So it will be herringbone lie-flat seat.

Is this true for all of Australia? I am looking at J ex HKG to PER and it shows a 330. When I look that up it seems to be Regional. Can you (or anyone) confirm what us poor people in PER get from CX?

CX do send out both the older 330 layout, and the new herringbone layout to PER. They are quite easy to spot, as the seat maps show the two different layouts. IIRC, the 33B is only 3 abreast in J, while the older 330 is 2-2-2.

CX are known to change equipment very last minute...
