Hey all,

there are a few posts about this but they look to all be about the older J on VA. I have 5 or 6 segments in J booked over december & jan and have just booked 1A - across both 737 & E190 - I just picked it because it sounds cool so you assume it is the better seat. Plus it is the only J seat I have flown on all previous segments.

I know there prob isn't much between them, but any other seating recommendation in the front of the plane?

Personally I always go for 2F; Window seat, higher chance of having an empty seat next to you/empty row entirely (Heh, when there is anyone else actually in J), able to place my bags under my seat (Just don't like having it in the overhead.... Maybe cause I also just like grabbing it and go when I land - My Y experiences come into play....)

2F both also on 738 & E190; 1A/2A single seat in the the E190s

My 2 cents. About to fly to CNS on the E190, Row 1 full (3 seats) - When I did OLCI, Row 2 to myself :) Bliss!

I always choose 1F on the 738. Window seat, but enough room to get through to the toilet without annoying your seat mate (if there is one) too much. One of the first to be served.

Hey all,

What "older J" is there on a VA 738? Perhaps you mean the old PE.

A problem to be aware of is that VA do not load enough meal options so those seated in row 2 often end up with only one choice. Ridiculous, but true from my experience. As always YMMV.

Flights three hours, then row 1, preferably on a window away from the sun.

Row two otherwise.

Side comment - NEVER take row 1 in premium economy on Pacific island flights.

Because of the position of the bulkhead and the position of the seat, there is little leg room as compared to row 2. Especially on red eyes, it can be hard to sleep in.
There's less leg room then your standard economy seat. Unless you are under, perhaps, 5' there's no way to stay comfortable. Bset to hope for is the aisle/window seat beside you stays empty so you can put your legs at an angle ...

I like this thread but have to say I wish you all flew on my sectors as I love row 1 and most of you love row 2 out of 385 domestic sectors in the past 3 to 4 years 370 have been in 1A and I enjoy it lol both on VA & QF. I have also done 1A on VA in PE to AKL & WEL and was lucky all 4 times to have no one next me as serfty is correct on saying that I made a decent bed out of it.

Thanks for your input - I think ill move all to 2A or 2C (all 2 hour east coast flights), and ask in the lounge to be moved if there is a free seat. If they run out of the food I want I'll just get the cookie & the cheese w/ crackers.
