FWIW, I have used Mal's legit way three times with no issues.

Interestingly, the exchange rate they use when converting from the USD price to AUD seems very competitive, IMO better than using an Oz CC to pay in USD.

The legit AA was was awesome!! It took like 5 minutes and the girl was sooooo nice. Put in my fave seat choice and all. Just waiting for the emailed confirmation to come through.

All flights are booked... only thing I messed up on was the price I thought from HNL - MEL on Jetstar was actually in USD not AUD. No hassle as it only was an extra $100 but I didn't see the tiny USD beside the price.

You all saved me so much money and points!! I wish you could all tag along now as well! LOL

And Serfty - as a Collingwood girl.. congrats to the Hawks on what was one of the games for 2007. We'll make up for that when we meet you in September

I still tend to use the dodgy method with lots of success. Have some 5% off coupons that when able to be used make it actually cheaper to do the dodgy method.

I was hoping in the last redesign of the AA website that they'd fix up authorisation for Australia. It never happened, but I hope that at some stage they start trusting us.

I will be testing how well I know the dodgy method soon. I want to try use some discount coupons as well....

Generally fares go up rather than down the closer you get to departure.

Anyway, I just got the latest quote from my agent & Best Flights.. they're only $6 different from each other and their prices are roughly the same as the price quoted from the online tool above. Do you guys think I'm getting a good deal or there's some agent out there that can beat this price? Thanks
