A list of the places MrsK and I have said we'd go back and stay there again, and again in some cases. Some aren't high end, but we loved the experiences we had.
But really interested in the list of hotels others are suggesting for our future travels

Great thread - of course if you pay $500 pn it's a lot different than $2000 pn and also what country.

My best / wonderful Australian hotels / resorts are some of the obvious:-
  • Lizard Island
  • Capella on LHI
  • Southern Ocean Lodge
  • Latitude 131
  • Saffire
  • The Pumphouse (Tassie)
You can't beat the Maldives for luxury - I've stayed in 3 (I'd have to look up their names) - all were amazing but really it's a beach holiday with not all that much to do besides water sports.

Some of the amazing game lodges in Africa (South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania and Botswana) - can't recall their names but they're all sort of "one and done".
Okay I just checked the pictures for the pumphouse and I am sold. Did you go in winter or summer?

Stamford Crest suites Singapore when it was a Westin - had its own lounge on the crest floors and free mini bar.

It really is a question to which there is no easy answer. It could be best service, best food, best facilities, best rooms or best location. Not to mention upgrades may make the decision for you.
So at present the best for us on service and food is the IC Bangkok though many ICs have great service.
In 2026 I hope it will be the Arts hotel Barcelona a Ritz Carlton. We stayed there one night before a cruise from Barcelona. Upgraded to a suite and given lounge access which is unusual for a Ritz Carlton. it was amazing in every way. Next year we will be staying 3 nights before our Barcelona cruise. not leaving anything to chance so a points booking for a suite with lounge access.

As for memorable upgrades the Westin Madrid comes out on top. It was the first SPG when we were doing a status match from Hilton diamond. Upgraded to the Royal suite. The next day was Spain day so we watched the parade from our balcony giving the royal wave.

The other was the Hilton Anchorage where we got the Governor's suite. Turned out very well as we were travelling with good friends. He had had a fall and dislocated his shoulder and broken his elbow. The orthopod he saw there told him it would be better to fly home to get the elbow surgery. As this Anchorage stay was not on their itinerary and there wasn't a spare room anywhere in Anchorage they were vry happy that we got upgraded.

There have been many other really great stays with several Australian places including Saffire, Southern ocean lodge, Sheraton Ayers Rock as it was back in the 80s and the Birri fishing lodge on Mornington island which is sadly not there anymore.

We went in November - but it was quite cold a couple of the days. Very unique location.
I was finishing up the Overland a few weeks ago in torrential rain and another couple on the boat were being picked up by Pumphouse staff to be whisked away to hot showers and whiskey for a few nights. I was a bit jealous.

Langham Place Monkok, HK in a club room before it was sold to another group. Best club ever.
Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo. Club room. Luxury amenities.
