Hi, I have been offered a job in Switzerland near Geneva for at least 3 years. Of course one of the biggest dliemnas is what to do with my FF points and status!

Interested in people's experience and advice here when moving overseas. Some background:
- have been based in sydney thus far. QF gold, status matched to virgin which i managed to hold for 2 years bit did not make the required segments this year. From syd went largely via sq to india, or qf to us and europe.
- all my current credit card points are poured into qantas, and will enjoy a lovely 280k pp J RTW next year thanks to the advice on this forum
- currently status matched to united star alliance gold equiv for 12 months
- yearly travel will be at least australia 2 times, india once, china once, us once. Inter europe at least 5 times. Holidays on top.

my head says make the switch to star alliance, my heart says stick with qantas via BA.
Appreciate any advice!!

If you come back to Australia even once a year that would be enough to get the 4xQF flights requirement going via DXB - I assume EK have a route from DXB to Switzerland that would be a QF codeshare.

They have two flights a day to Zurich one morning/afternoon and one afternoon/night. I've been looking at the flights from Zurich for an upcoming Holiday. If you are wanting to keep up with your QF status, I'd suggest travel to Asia via Dubai with Emirates. flying with Air Berlin around Europe who seem to a have a lot of flights in Zurich. FinnAir and British Airways for Geneva and Zurich to get around where you can in Europe. Also American Airlines fly to Zurich from JFK and DFW for your American trips.

GVA seems to be the sleepy cousin compared to ZHR. Was there earlier this year and probably 4 private Lear jets for every commercial aircraft. Says something about the locals?
