I've read various thoughts on best seats in the F cabin in various threads around here but just wanted to get a quick gauge of opinion about the best seats for a couple. We are travelling on a D class fare on QF29 MEL-HKG later this year but obviously due to the lack of F fares we've been put in the F cabin and allocated to 1A/K.

Obviously 1A/K are separated by the closet, but have the advantage of looking forward, not being separated as much as the other window seats, and have storage above the seat. Is this aisle separation too much of a bother when travelling together?

2E/F are already taken, but I've read that they're a bit 'public' and don't have the advantage of above seat storage or air vents (so they get a bit hot under the doona). QF009 writes highly of 3E/F, but I'm not sure what necessarily makes them any better than 2E/F.

Is there any advantage to travelling together in seats A/E or F/K and being separated by an aisle?

Any thoughts gratefully appreciated. :)

Hi, 1A/1K are quite separated and I would not consider good seats if you are wanting to converse with your traveling partner. You need any of the 2 middle seats in row 2-4. Otherwise if those are not available the next best would be IMO 2A/2E or 2F/2K as row 2 has the least distance between the aisle. Now if traveling alone I love 3A/K as it offers the biggest distance between the aisle or I guess 4A/K if you like work space next to you.

I always choose 3E/3F where available, when travelling with my wife. These seats offer the maximum distance from the adjacent single window seat of any of the centre pair. Also, unlike 2E/2F, you won't have people stepping into your personal space when trying to access the overhead bin.

We've used row 2 or 4 when row 3 already taken - still very good seats clearly (as they say, no such thing as a bad F seat).

When flying solo, I prefer 3K/3A in that order - K side seems to have spare seats if cabin not full, so less traffic. As mentioned, 4A/K is very good for the workspace, but you often get bumped by traffic on the way past.

When my wife and I fly together we normally go for any of the E&F seats because they do make socialising much easier during the course of the flight.

That said, if either of you wishes to work during the flight, you could try 4A&E or 4F&K. They're close enough together for relatively easy short conversations and the window passenger gets a heap of extra space for work materials. If you want to chat over dinner one of you can always sit opposite the other on the small jump seat / footrest and pretend you're in a restaurant.

Hi,

Much in aggrement with previous posts. 3E & F are the best seats to travel together, followed by 2E & F and lastly 4E & F which we try to avoid as this can be very loud from the galley directly behind !!! especially on a night flight as the noise can go on quite time after everybody has eaten due to the flight attendents doing the washing up (if you know what I mean) and the same in prepairing breakfast in the morning with lots of plates, cups and saucers being rattled around.

Kind regards, Traveller F

You'd be right in any of the EFs. We quite liked 3EF, but noticed 4EF seemed to have slightly more shelf space to put random bits and pieces.

If alone I'd usually plump for row 4A/K as it has ample shelf space, and it's nearest to the galley which makes it easy to pop in for booze or a chat. Either 1A/K or 4A/K are easy for chatting with other people in the cabin as 1A is rather near 1K and 4A/K are quite close to the middle seats. i usually avoid the EFs if alone due to the inconveniently tiny shelf space.

I could not have put it any better. Totally agree.
