Now, to select the best time. Before dinner. Après dinner. I plan to be there first to select the best time.

I'm loving these questions Pushka as I am doing a similar trip in April and they are all of the things I am thinking. I'm doing F both ways so plan on a shower on the way over leaving more time at a better time for the Dom and cognac.

Hmm, I am baring my inner soul!

Maybe we should think that if people didn't take the shower then those attendants would be out of a job?

My excuse is all ready - I had a long day at work and a hot date in Brisbane.....lucky they dont know MrP is still back in Auckland........Maybe I should say I have a business dinner in Brisbane, but then I would need to bring Business clothes and makeup to change into.

I was encouraged to shower akl-mel when i asked about it ... they have two staff dedicated to it so why
not?

Your travelling first - you shouldn't feel like you need an excuse - it is part of the experience they offer in first.

Ok am on this flight tonight (AKL-MEL) and will definitely ask for a shower. Am sitting in 1A.

Will advise how it goes.

Ask as soon as you are greeted at the door. They wont offer. I had to ask last Thursday and they didnt guarantee I'd be able to have one. I was lucky though. It was wonderful. ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1427700322.407963.jpg

Well I had my shower and it was awesome. As noted by Pushka they don't ask. As my dinner order was being taken I asked if I could have a shower after dinner.

As dinner was being served my confirmation was provided and when dinner was finished I was asked if I was ready to have my shower. When I confirmed I was I was taken there and shown how to use it.It was awesome and if you ever get the chance I suggest you take it.

I was in the left side shower, in front of seat 1A. Certainly not too small for me.

Certainly, on longer flights, there will be an invitation, often before take off, to book a time for the shower.
It's easy to understand that this would not be the case on a flight of three or four hours.

Booked to fly EK F on the following flights:

FCO-DXB B777 (was meant to be A380, but aircraft type changed after booking)
DXB-BKK-SYD B777

I'm currently seated in 1A on all sectors, though read somewhere recently that 2A may be "better" as it has 3 windows.

FCO-DXB is showing as this aircraft config via EF: SeatGuru Seat Map Emirates Boeing 777-300ER (77W) Three Class V2

While DXB-BKK-SYD is this config: SeatGuru Seat Map Emirates Boeing 777-300ER (77W) Three Class V1

Are the F Suites the same on these two configs?

Any comments/feedback/recommendations on seat selection for solo traveler highly welcomed. Haven't flown EK (in any class) before.

Sorry, all my EK flights have been on the 380. Have seen a few varied reviews of the 777 but can't give a first hand report - and I'm sure you will have checked all the available sources. No doubt someone here will be able to give definitive answers, though. :)

I have flown in 1A a couple times recently in an EK 77W. Can confirm there's three windows, unless the mirror behind the lamp and beverages confused me. I have also flown on the A380. Always in F ;) I don't think there's any differences in the configurations, their F suite is pretty much standard across on everything.

IME there is absolutely no material difference between row 1 & 2, just choose a window seat! The A380 and 77W F products are also to my eyes, practically identical. As for the shower, they like to be quite organised on longhauls. I've been very lucky to fly it on a 16+ hour flight.

I knew someone would come up with the answers, Joshua! And, on the basis of your statement that there is no difference in suite configurations between the 380 and the 777, I agree that it makes little, if any, difference which row you choose, as long as you have a window seat.

I do like to choose my F seat on QF but, perhaps because of the more enclosed set up of the EK suites, I really don't have a favourite there, having tried quite a few of them - almost always long haul and always window seats. The only factor might be having an earlier choice on booking a shower time - but even that can relate to when the bookings are taken and who is doing what at the time (having a bed made up, meal being served, drink being poured etc).

So I would say: Just pick a window suite, and enjoy the experience. :)

We flew F on the 777 in January as a free upgrade (thankyou Mr Emirates) and then last week on the A380. I couldn't make out any difference in the suite. Obviously the shower in the 380.

For someone who rarely flew Business since 2 years ago and never before joining AFF, two F flights in just two months is staggering.
