Hi all, wat is the best credit card to earn QFF points if i have a 100k purchase soon?

I was looking at the ANZ Plat FF. 1.5 per dollar on the amex card.

Also if my limit is 15k and I deposit another 85k to the card, will i get points for my the whole 100k?

Thanks

NAB have a QF Amex Platinum, no points cap and 1.f per $ spend

Yes you can tfr cash to card, but the $100k creates the merchant transaction and therefore the points

Westpac Earth Platinum Plus will also do the trick

Are you sure the merchant will let you do a $100k purchase on Amex?

I spoke to a rep at Amex the other day about putting my card into credit to pay for something.. the response was that if your card has a 15k limit and you put it into credit for for 15k, you'll need to make 2 15k transactions to spend the 30k. So, if you're looking to pay 100k for something, you'll most likely need to pay it multiple times.

I can see someone getting a phone call on or about the third transaction. If the card doesn't get automatically put on hold.

But I guess if the merchant is happy to split the bill, and each transaction is less than your limit it should work. Theoretically.

Personally, I'd try to keep in under $10k just to avoid the mandatory reporting rules for transactions over that amount.

+1 for Westpac

It's cheaper than the ANZ platinum, and has more features like 24 months extended warranty instead of 12, i think cheaper int conversion too.

I've also had no end of trouble in EVERY aspect dealing with ANZ and would never recommend them to anybody (except my worst enemy)

I have no trouble putting $100k or more onto the NAB Qantas card or the Westpac Platinum plus and then doing a merchant transaction for $100k. I do it all the time. You may need to break it into $50 k transfers from your banking software as BPay is the way I get funds onto the cards from other bank accounts at other banks

To my knowledge the $ 10,000 reporting limit is in relation to eith CASH or SUSPICIOUS TRANSFERS not EFT etc
