I am travelling ADL-MEL on the weekend with any seat award in business (to get my status up to silver with a double status points promotion :)). I can choose row 1,2 or 3. Any suggestions as to the best row? There are 2 of us travelling.

There is not a whole lot of difference really. Row 1 normally gets served food and drink first, this can be a benefit on short flights to have more time to enjoy the meal. As it is the first row, cabin bag have to go into the overhead lockers. Not a big issue, but sometimes the lockers above row 1 are filled with equipment, blankets, or pillows.

If you get one of the new 737-800 with personal IFE then row 3 is good. As there is no one behind you pressing the touch screen on the back of your seat because row 4 has screens that fold out from their seats. Also because your screen is in the seat in front then you can use the IFE gate to gate. Trouble is you have no way of knowing before hand if you are getting one of there new jets.

Having rather long legs I find row 1 less comfortable than 2 because of the bulkhead, and the 73H's don't have the cut-out in front of 1DF that some older 737s had.

Thanks for this. I might just stay in row 3 as sounds like there is no real benefit to row 1 or 2.
