Best (any?) use of 6302 Hilton Honors points??

In many ways I’m a Hilton Honors newbie. I’ve been in the programme for years, since I got my AmEx Platinum card, but I’ve never really given it any attention.

Over the years I have accumulated 6302 Hilton Honors points and I’m wondering whether they’re useful in any way. I live in Melbourne and I’d be happy with a staycation or to fly somewhere close by if there’s value to be had.

If it’s worthwhile to do so I could transfer some AmEx points to top up my Hilton Honors balance (but from what I gather that’s not a great use of AmEx points).

Also, in late 2024 I took up the Velocity Platinum offer to take out Hilton Honors Diamond, and I’m somewhat surprised to see that I still have Diamond status.

Any thoughts about what I could/should do with my points?

That’s a nominal value of around US$30.

I’d just transfer to QF. Doesn’t sound like you’re a frequent Hilton guest so don’t start now because of this, it’s a trivial amount.

At ~6,000 points, you're in that classic "orphan point" territory. While it's not enough for a free night at the DoubleTree Flinders St, it's the perfect amount for a Points & Money slider to knock ~$30-$40 off a staycation.

However, check out the Hilton Honors Experiences portal. They occasionally have local Melbourne "Redeem" (not bid) options for gallery tours or dining credits that can be better value than a tiny room discount.

Regarding your Diamond status: If you took the Velocity offer in late 2024, Hilton usually cycles their status years through to March 31st. You're likely seeing the "grace period" before the April 1st drop-off. If you have any Melbourne stays planned before March, use that Diamond status for the breakfast benefit/ lounge access at the Hilton Melbourne Little Queen Street while you still have it!
