Berlin to Munich, how much airport time to allow?

I'm just looking for an experience for the amount of airport time to allow for a flight from Berlin to Munich.
Seems I've left it a bit late to book at train for this journey, with fares now around Euro150. Had a quick look at flights, and Lufthansa is the only option, and Euro125 is looking to be decent timing.
I figure I need to allow 1.5 hours at the Berlin end (30 minutes to get to the airport on S-bahn) to arrive at the airport 1 hour before the flight.
I have no status, economy. Is 1 hour long enough?

I figure total travel time is about 3:30 to arrive at a hotel near Munich HBF. Once adding in ground transport. I guess I'll save about 15 euro and an hour. It's a pretty marginal saving considering I do like enjoying a Helles on the train.
Any comments about that...

Check out @Mattg's recent experience:

Thanks that's super helpful.
Probably need to add 20 minutes in terminal by he sound of things.
I'm planning to stay near the hauptbahnhof... Haven't booked that either... covid makes pre-booking a bigger lottery. So I guess add the hotel walking time to the S-bahn time.
So pre-guess is to leave the hotel no later than 2 hours before flight time.
I do arrive into Berlin at the start of the trip, so will have some experience...
But I think train is the way to go based on this info.

When are you going?

I just booked flights tonight for a mate and myself from LHR to MUC. Going to Oktoberfest opening weekend - my first time.

I'm going in 20 days...
lol
I almost had a last minute trip to Utrecht this weekend. But I got covid last week so decided it was best to say no can do...

/aside worked out for the best as last minute was going to be amsterdam and back in 5 days in economy, whereas the German trip is at least in business.

We flew out of BER after Easter on BA. Fortunately we had Q jumper (status) cards for checking luggage but there was otherwise quite a line for whY/non-status PAX. You’d hope that LH would have a few more counters/bagdrop kiosks?

There’s no priority line for security but there’s plenty of checkpoints - look for a quiet one.

100% I’d be taking the train with those times/prices.

You’d want 90min at BER and then depending where in MUc your final Destination is, the station is so much more convenient.

Are you HLO? If not, add more time on arrival too…..

Thanks everyone. Basically have 2 nights in Munich with an early train departure onwards. Plan always was to sleep near the Haupt Bahnhof.
I got a shock because the fare I was tracking was around 60 to 80 euro, for a 8:30-ish departure from Berlin. That then jumped to 150  I snoozed, and I lost.
I've now booked onto a 9:30 train for about 140 euro. Unfortunately, not the ultra fast 4 hour version, but good enough
Thanks for helping my thought process.

Probably a different experience to Matt's.
We were at BER on 13/04 (two days before Easter weekend) and were catching a evening flight to Frankfurt. Spent about 60+ minutes in the security queue. At the time, we were pointed to two security areas which both had the same length of queue (200+ ppl snaked up 4 lengths of the area). It was highly stressful as we had only allowed ourselves about 120 minutes. There was only 2 carry-on scanners operating in our queue. The person checking the bags was also taking their time chatting to a friend while a constant stream of 200+ ppl were still in the queue.

Eventually had to run to our gate, which ofcourse was the last one. Made it in as the last passengers on the flight.

Maybe we picked the worst time of the year to experience BER, so you might have a much more straightforward experience.
