Hi Everyone,

I am one that loves my tech when I travel and when I saw this new suitcase by Bluesmart, I thought could this be the one for me?
:)

They are taking preorders at the moment at $599AUD at Strandbags or $399USD at BlueSmart or Amazon. With all the extras that I carry with me, The next Suitcase for me could be from BlueSmart that includes Location tracking, Bluetooth lock, USB battery charge, Smart scale and trip data app. ( I sound like a sales person) LOL
:D

But I am interested in your thoughts and would you find this helpful during your travels?

Well at least the youtube video promoting it gets a good laugh
:D

Good concept, but as a carry-on, weighing 4.2kg is a bit of an issue.

Would be great for a train journey though.

yes indeed the price does help make the final decision for me too, unless Santa thinks I have been good and stuffs that in my stocking:). I will be interested to have a closer look once it arrives in store to give it a good look over.

Sure I saw a blog somewhere where this had already caused someone substantial grief with the TSA thanks to having wires embedded in a bag

I think I saw them on the U.S. Shark tank. I would be interested but would need to physically look at it. Shark tank that having all the $$ from pre sales is one thing but no one has used it so no reviews good or bad. I will wait for the reviews.

One of their spiels is "The World is Crazy About Bluesmart"! Oh yeah, how when it's not yet released?

I've spent years trying different hand luggage options and the most important criteria is weight. That one fails that test dramatically so it doesn't interest me further.

Not a Tech smart carry on but equally unusual, in The Australian Magazine today, the carry on luggage that turns into a scooter. What is surprising is that they have been around since at least 2012 - why have I not seen hordes of business travelers roaring through terminals on these?

Location tracking seems redundant for carry-on luggage; isn't the whole point that you keep it with you?

Yes I agree that tracking for a carry on does seem redundant. I do use the Tile app (https://www.thetileapp.com) which has worked well for me but of course in my luggage going in the under carriage. I think the suitcase being 4+Kg is a downside, maybe the next model will be slightly lighter :)

Saw one where it was Frankfurt airport security. The dope carrying the bag was told to remove the electronics, and they replied that there was no electronics in the bag, just a GPS tracker. Still that matches the mentality of someone who thinks a 4 kg empty carry on bag is a good idea.
