Have the problems spread to coughet?

Or did two Australian thieves go for a holiday to coughet instead? Waiting for the King Power video (assuming it will become public soon) to make the right call...

I keep reading the posts here with amazement

First, the guy supposedly had a carton of cigarettes - unopened - not a packet.

As I said in my first post on this topic, security at the Suvarnabhumi Airport is now immediately before (priority lane) / after (everyone else) immigration. The security screening on each concourse has been removed. There is some additional screening before you get on the plane on some flights for some people, but I doubt these guys care about cigarettes - these guys are looking for weapons. I go though BKK 10-15 times a year - last time was 3 Dec.

Next, for duty free purchases you should always get a receipt - end of story.

Thee have been some problems with the airport. There were cracks in some taxiways (not runways) and some of the gates were not used for a while as a result. There was a shortage of toilets - but this has been fixed. Luggage at the beginning was real slow - now it is OK. The big issue I see - although it does not affect me as I have an APEC card and use the priority line - is the new immigration computer is much slower in processing people than the old one and the lines at immigration are pretty long.

Couple of hints: 1. You can now get a metered cab from the airport to town. This is he cheapest way to go. 2. The BTS Skytrain to Siam will be open mid next year - this will be great - especially if you stay at a hotel connected to a BTS station as I do. 3. If you want to get a cheap car to anywhere in Thailand - walk across the first road when you get out of the terminal and when you get to the area in the middle of the 2 roads you will find people happy to negotiate a good price to go anywhere ie Pattaya B1,100, Hua Hin B2,000, City B500.

Last hint: Looking for a fantastic 5 star hotel in the middle of Pattaya ? Try the Dusit D2 (not the Dusit but the Dusit D2) in Second Rd. The rooms are fantastic. Recently stayed there for A$100 per night including breakfast and free wireless internet The breakfast is not enormous but the quality is sensational. This is from someone who has stayed at the Marriott for years and has put up with poor food, poor internet, average rooms, high prices, and poor service !!!
