Bangkok - Airport Charges Sky High discouraging tourists

I thought flying in November would be cheap - after all hardly anyone flies November.

Looking at the Scoot breakdown there appears to be $106 to transition an airport! going out (one way)
I'm not sure if one pays double for stopping at Singapore, and I certainly question the $33 fuel surcharge given current oil prices.

Frankly 10 days at $600 plus, plus baggage, plus this and that plus sardine factor - you can keep it.
I'll pay and extra $150 for full service airlines especially as AirAsia X has nothing competitive since I last found out the have 9 abreast seats with SFA legroom.

It was once said airline fees are not noticed, some tax grab. Well, between heading to London, and now BKK, I will just skip a holiday or change destination. The game is just too hot.Poor old Singapore with the SG now 1:1 it works out cheaper via HK or China or KLIA2. Bye bye tourist dollars.

The ticket price includes airport charges for the departure airport, the arrival airport and potentially the transit/transfer airport (depends on the airport). It's not just Bangkok in your ticket.

The A$29.89 looks like a Sydney charge, which you will pay on the way out and way in.

BKK has a departure tax of 700 baht, which is reflected in the A$26.95 fee.

The two charges of A$2.93 reflect a S$3 service fee and S$3 security fee for transfering at SIN (charged to the departing sector).

What city is this from? Is it somewhere in Australia return to BKK via SIN?

I think Scoot have some kind of express surcharge (Scoot through?) if they check you all the way through to your next destination vs only being checked to SIN then doing it all again in SIN.

With some great specials lately on full service airlines you definitely have to do a cost comparison because with LCC's by the time you add all the extras on top you could well pay more.

FWIW we purchased a one way fare on JQ BKK/xMEL/BNE on the Thai JQ site for travel in October and the breakdown of costs was as follows:

THB11,939.50 airfare
THB 1.498.20 taxes
THB 3,318.98 plus bundle

THB16,756.68 per person (AUD574.00 pp)

The plus bundle included 20kg baggage plus 4,700 ff points & 55 SC. Part of the appeal was being able to use the F Lounge in MEL on arrival so fingers crossed the connecting flight isn't canned and we get put on a JQd flight.

We'd bought our outbound flight MEL/BKK separately on a Star Class special earlier in the year for travel in April which we then had to move to October. We paid the plus bundle but I just about fell over when I changed it online for zero extra as you hear so many stories about people having hassles but it was ridiculously easy to do.

Beginning Oct 1, the AOT will be charging an extra 35THB (Security Tax) for international travel from Dec 1:

"The 35-baht fee for the Advance Passenger Processing System will be added to tickets bought from Oct 1 for travellers using the airports from Dec 1."
