Hi Everyone!

I need your help!

I am flying to Bali on the 27th Nov - 1 Dec and I haven't had time to book my accommodation yet!

PA is on mat leave and I have uni exams this week... literally finish my exam and dash to Darwin for a business trip.. come back to Sydney on the 25th Nov and fly out on 27th Nov!

I am suppose to be studying for my exam now.. which isn't really happening... alas!

Seeing everyone is so well traveled here...this is my first trip to Bali and I'm traveling on my own...!! Being female and traveling on my own.. safety is my core concern.

Prefer 5 star (can do 4 star!) and ideally my own Villa... hopefully under $300 a night!

Member of HotelClub so ideally something I can book via them!

I think that's it for now! Shout away and give me a hand!

Thank you >> back to textbook crunching!

I all for the villa stay, but have a good hard look at the Bali Intercontental, under the family and friends rate and you can get a great room for $250-$300.

InterContinental Hotels Group | Friends and Family

You can get a suite with club access for about $280 (USD)
Great price but no stay benefits.
maybe worthwhile looking at buying Ambassador status and this "MAY" get you an even better room.
Alternatively have a look at Wotif and then go to the property direct and negotiate. Specially the villas. ask for driver or upgrade for the same price.

I have been to Bali about 9 times in the last 10 years and just love it.
I have a slightly out of date travellers guide that I had written for friends if you need info on the Bali basics....
Cheers

Hi elisa, I believe IainF is heading you in the right direction. Villas are nice but they unless you pay heaps, you will find that the service is a lot tobe desired. I would tend to sway you towards a suite at a major, my favourites are the Hyatt, my preference is for an old timer on the beach in Sanur. I like Sanur, or is it because I hate the other noisy areas, who cares. The standard rooms are pretty tired but the suites are awesome and you will pick one up for under $300. They are not on the website so it's a matter of ringing and asking what's available and don't be afraid, if you find the rate a little high for your budget to say so and follow it up with "I could afford $xx_".

The Hyatt over at Nusa Dua is flash, spread out, great spas, good surf, but it is isolated in a guarded enclave, perfect if you have been hassled and tired and want to get away from it all, otherwise you will feel left out of it.

If you love the idea of heading for the hills of Ubud, book yourself in to a suite @ Komeneka in Monkey Forrest road. It will only cost $50 to get a cab up there and it is heaven, right in the action, what there is, but nestled down the back on a little river, I spend a lot of time in Indonesia, they have the most beautiful country in the world. If you have the time or inclination, take an early morning flight out of DPS and hop up to JOG for the day and visit Borabadour, you will be home by 8pm, hope I have given you some ideas, regards bkkrop

We are going to Bali for four weeks and having never been there before either are also in a bind where to stay.
Our solution is to book into the Hyatt at Sanur for four days, which has very good reviews from other travellers, and during that time have a look around for somewhere else to stay, as the choice is mind boggling.

Enjoy!

I've got a short stopover in Bali next year (having not been there before), and I'm also staying at the Hyatt Sanur. Seems popular! :D

have been to bali four times over the last couple of years. Check out Kuta Townhouses, they have a website kutatownhouses . com. its run by aussies with aussie tv and great modern apartments! :D

Hi awesome post... the sense of hospitality in Bali is worth commending too. It is its culture that gives Bali this trait. ;)Check out: http://www.tamanindrakila.net/

Bali Dynasty

I am travelling to Bali in September and tried to book the Bali Dynasty directly with them via their website. Unfortunately, they are booked out of family rooms. Tried to stay there because of the pool / waterslide and kids club. I have emailed and am on a waiting list.

Any suggestions for 4* family rooms in the Kuta / Tuban / Legian region?

Yes I have two for you, both in the South Kuta/Tuban area and much nicer than Bali Dynasty.

Holiday Inn Resort Baruna - has family rooms and kiddy suites.

The Patra Bali Resort and Villas - deluxe suite.

That's OK.

I had a few problems getting a reply from the Patra last year - ended up sending my enquiry/reservation which was answered promptly to
Ratna Indah, Sales & Marketing Director

Now for the Holiday Inn Baruna, they have a Facebook page with lots of info and from reading AFF I found if you google Intercontinental Friends and Family you can see some great discounted rates for this property.

Good luck

I stayed at the Bounty Hotel in May/June with a mate.

Anyone else who has been there may agree it's a hit and miss.
The location is average (right on Poppies 2), rooms are ok, bathrooms were absolutely disgusting.

That and half of the guests there, inclusing myself, ended up with red eye from the swimming pools.

Personally, I'd never stay there again. When I go back it will definitely be either Hard Rock or Mercure.

when we visit Bali we love to stay at the Padma Resort mainly in the Garden Club Chalet around $300 but you get the benefits of the lounge ie afternoon canapes and evening coughtails. They have just added their own Rewards program called padma resident. Well worth a visit
