Hi guys, have booked a quick 8 night getaway to Bali Next year in Feb.

any hotel suggestions? happy to look at some beach resorts as well as cultural centers such as Ubud.

Am SPG and HH honors but am more than happy to hear about other chains and Villas that people have stayed at and recommend.

Thanks

Jono

I like the Seminyak area for the classy restaurants and the coughtail bars/lounges. I stayed at the Elysian Villas in Seminyak and loved it - v sleek design and the service was excellent. Wifi is free and you also get free brekky.

Thanks.. i am SPG plat (awarded by status matching my HH) i assume there are no upgrades though as they have limited participation

Would definatley recommend the Seminyak area. It has lots of nice restaurants and good bars and clubs. It's also a lot "less bogan" than the rest of Bali (which is good for us classier folk :D)

Last time I was in Bali (in May I think it was) I stayed at the Ramada Nusa Dua which I was very impressed with - it's a little out of the way though so Taxi's are a must for basically anywhere.

Give the Westin at Nusa Dua a miss but Le Meridian at Tanah Lot is really nice with an amazing pool. The only problem is that it is miles away from anywhere but the temple next door is worth seeing.

Don't be tempted to hire a scooter. Get a taxi, they are very cheap.

thanks for the suggestions guys!

will check it all out!

ive heard the westin is a disappointment but that the laguna Nusa Dua is quite nice.

as far as villas go there certainly are plenty of them. :)

I would also vote for Seminyak. Nusa Dua is too sterile, and unless you travel elsewhere there is nothing but hotels to eat at.

I stayed at the Oberoi in Seminyak. It's not a big flashy five star setup, but very nice and relaxing. Each night I just wandered along the road a tried a different local (but western style) restaurant. Had a great time speeaking to the owners of each one etc.

Not sure if they will discount regularly, but when i stayed (admitedly a quiet time - think security concerns) I called and mentioned some of their competitor hotels were cheaper. After consulting their supervisor they called back and agreed to srop their rate.
