Hi,
Does anyone know if baggage is included when booking economy BA flights using Qantas points? A flight from Toulouse to London is 10k points. If I click on the 10k there is a tick for included bags. I recently booked flights with WestJet using Qantas points. The same tick was there indicating bags are included but upon checking with WestJet this is not the case and I now need to pay for baggage. Don't want the same to happen with BA.
Thanks in advance.

I've never had an issue with baggage being included in BA reward flights booked using QF points, but then again I was either Gold or Platinum at the time, so status provides baggage even when the fare class doesn't.

The BA default is 1 bag at 23kg per pax. WS on the other hand is no baggage.

With BA, status provides extra baggage but only if you have an existing base baggage allowance. If your base allowance is zero, you get zero baggage, status or not.

Well i learnt something new today thanks.

But even when buying whY seats on BA using cash any fare I've looked at has included at least 1 checked bag, and BA's carry-on is possibly the most generous weight wise of any airline.

I'm looking at a Ba euroflyer Bordeaux to LON Gatwick. When I look closer at baggage for Ba Euroflyer, it says all flights include a cabin (the cabin bag is
and a handbag each weighing up to 23kgs.

But checked bags are at extra cost. for the cheaper economy flights.

Does using Qantas points book you into the standard economy booking? which does include i checked bag.

Just to loop back around to this one, tpor5488 / ellen10 , I'm guessing neither of you had any issues as far as the allotted baggage via a reward booking?

I'm looking at something similar from TLS - what is it about southern France for BA reward redemptions, ha - albeit in business. Admittedly, a bit of a waste as far as points, but I have to travel with 2 checked bags + hand luggage, and the options aren't great.

I think it's clear from above but all points redemptions on BA include baggage (and are eligible for status-related increased allowance)
You can buy revenue hand-luggage only fares. These do not receive status baggage bonuses

Randomly i booked a BA flight BOD-LGW yesterday! Id have a look at the cost of the revenue fare (which is more for included baggage), usually quite cheap which means its poor value for a points redemption.

I have not flown my BA flight yet. But it was all a bit confusing. I have no status so I decided to book rewards flights in Business to make it easier.
Cash flights weren't that cheap for my dates.

I’m facing the same issue but on AA instead of BA. I’ve booked Y award seat for 2 and I hold LTG.

Website says no baggage included with QFF American Airlines Y award (LAX-MIA) but read that LTG / Sapphire status gets checked bag for both myself and other PAX (no stays) on the same booking but it’s not very clear.

Previously I thought bag checkin was included on both BA & AA Y awards but now it seems less clear.

QF awards on BA get 1 piece at 23kg in Y. You get 2 pieces at 32kg if you're oneworld sapphire or emerald and this allowance applies to everyone on the same PNR.

QF awards on AA wholly domestic/transborder itineraries (eg. LAX-MIA-YUL or SEA-DFW) get zero pieces in Y, however if you have status eg. oneworld ruby, then you get 1 piece at 23kg, or oneworld sapphire, then you get 2 pieces at 23kg per piece, or oneworld emerald, then you get 3 pieces at 32kg per piece. In all 3 cases that same allowance applies to everyone on the same PNR.

You can confirm by managing the booking on BA APP or website

On one of my QF reward bookings;

1 × 23kg checked-in bag

1 × cabin bag (56 × 45 × 25cm)

1 × handbag/laptop (40 × 30 × 15cm)
