In June, my wife and I are going to the US for a conference.
Flying from Syd, return on VA in PE which gives a baggage allowance of 2 x 32KG for each of us.
When we get back to Syd, we are flying home to ADL on QF in Y.
My question is, does the international allowance on VA carry through to QF? I'm thinking that because it is the end of an international flight (yes I know they are different airlines), it may mean we can get the domestic leg without excess baggage charges?
Or am I dreaming?
Would it make it any easier if we flew home to ADL on DJ? I'm not sure if there are any ties between DJ and VA which would make the baggage issue easier

The only way they might do it is if they were booked on the same ticket, but even then I doubt it. QF has no interline agreement with VA, and nor should they considering they are the competition.

If you had a DJ flight booked on the same ticket instead then the international luggage allowance would have applied. They actually have codeshare flights where a DJ flight also has a VA flight number.

Is there a reason you didn't book it the whole way from Adelaide with VA? If you did, then you would have been sitting in PE on the ADL-SYD flight as well.
