I am coming to the end of a 2 month break from work which has involved no flying, no posting on AFF and most importantly the arrival of #2 son.

Before I took my leave I informed the boss that I will be looking to minimise travel and no overnight absences for the first few months in deference to my hard working wife (newborn coupled with active 3 year old).

Checked in with work yesterday to hear: "We need you in Melbourne from Monday to Wednesday next week, but don't worry we've booked you three return trips so no overnight and on Wednesday you can come back on the early flight and 1650".

I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry, lucky my wife is a good sport.

On the upside I can now pencil in 2 hours of guaranteed sleep time for those days. Sigh..

Welcome back (straight into the deep end ) and congratulations on the new addition to your family.

Nice to know your loved !
With 4 girls I understand the 2 hours sleep then back to the "comfortably numb" stage

Congrats on the new addition and the trip will give you a few SC's...

Congrats on the new arrival. Mine are three years apart, and they're at a glorious age now (almost 5 & 2). So can completely agree with the minimising travel bit.

The break is fine as long as those left behind don't have a bad day. If they do then the break is rarely worth the grief when you get home....

Totally agree. 4 daughters in 5+ years. No point in having a break if the boss couldn't have one too.
