Flying BA16 to london next week Tuesday (19th Jan) from Syd and was just scouting website when I noticed BA10 was cancelled recently (other post on this site) and today BA16 was cancelled. My flight looks quite empty at the moment and I was wondering is these cancellations are "real" or just a way of consolidating passengers ? Don't mind if I can get upgrade out of it but not looking forward to fully loaded Y class trip.

Any stats or experiences ?

Thanks

Probably a flow on from the strike action that was proposed, no doubt many people have decided they are not going to risk BA at present so low loads.

BA are having massive problems due to the snow and weather in the UK. There are diversions everywhere, staff can't get to work because they are snowed in (or their flights get cancelled) etc etc.

While the weather situation is now improving, they still have staff and planes in the wrong airports and they are slowly sorting out the mess.

We have cancelled a number of flights today and there have been significant delays due to snow and the current icy conditions.

Which means more planes and staff will be out of position, so carry on effects will occur. BA is normally good about prioritising long haul over short haul though. Not a fun time to be travelling anything ex-London.
