Hi

I have a work trip coming up to STR via LHR from SYD and have the choice of PE on BA or Y on QF, at this stage I am leaning toward BA. Travel is end Feb 2015

I understand that I get Status Credits and Points on BA, although probably not at the same rate, so my questions are:

If I go Qantas what are my odds on getting an upgrade using points (I have 600K)?
Can I access the First Lounge in SYD with a BA coded ticket (I am QF WP)?
Anything else obvious I should ask?

Sorry if these are basic questions but nearly all of my travel is domestic.

Cheers

You can use the new points calculator to work out exactly how much status credit and point love you'll get with each combo, but I think you'd earn slightly more on the BA option, as PE normally earns at the full Y rate, but I'd assume the QF fare you'd be on would be a discount earn rate. If however the QF earn rate is standard or flexible economy, it'll earn vastly more than the BA PE rate. As you can see if you check the calculator.

You can access the F lounge.

Just make sure the Qantas flights have a QF number to put upgrade requests through.

Thanks for the replies, I've decided to go with BA, just glad I get to try the First Lounge!
