Hi there

As an AA Plat (OW sapphire) will i be able to get lounge access on the this LHR-MAN routing?

LHR-CDG-BRS-EDI-MAN

I know that BA will not give lounge access on a domestic routing (LHR-MAN) on a cheap ticket but as i go thru France on the way to MAN, am i ok for lounge access?

The fare was UKL44 incl tax but it's gonna take 12h40 to get to MAN:shock:

It is same day travel...........Booked on AA.com

Cheers

As an AA platinum you can use the lounge before all your flights on BA

I don't know why you think that you cannot use it prior to a LHR-MAN flight. You can happily use the domestic T1 Terraces

The only time you cannot use the lounge when travelling on an OW flight is when travelling domestically within North America or if is a 3rd party lounge where OW access is not granted

Hi there
Back in June I was refused access to BA terraces in MAN on a MAN-LHR itin, but was allowed access when i produced my AY boarding passes for LHR-HEL-SIN:confused:

If you have your Platinum AA card, you should be allowed in

The Lounge dragons in the UK for BA seem to make up rules on the spot. Don't even think of challenging them unless you have concrete evidence in your favour.

You have right of entry. Whether you meet the "bouncers" strict entry regulations is another matter. Pity you don't have one of those bright shiny Gold BA Exec Club cards. Then they might wash the soles of your feet.

The lounge access card at the desk details the access rules and does show that AA Platinum is allowed unless travelling domestically within the US. Just get them to check the card

Regardless of what their card says, a challenge for them to check the card is not going to gain entry.

Some of their staffers cannot be corrected - just like some of the members here :p

The only way is to show them an email or letter or FAQ written by BA that shows entry is allowed.

It's worth a try; all being well the dragons will be in a good mood. At the moment , the issue is ( iirc ) moot since I believe the T1 lounge is temporarily closed due to staff being redployed elsewhere to deal with the current situation. Hopefully it'll reopen soon with friendly caring dragons who have the ability to read at the door

In my experience, the BA lounge agents are diligent at applying the access rules. They will refuse access if you do not have the relevant card available to show them and they generally do not just accept the status printed on the boarding pass. But this is in fact per the lounge access rules. They are also well known for applying the guest access rules to the letter.

And it is well known that some lounges used by BA at some European airports (such as CDG) are not actually BA lounges and so access rules vary from those for real BA lounges.

I have not heard of any OneWorld Sapphire or Emerald members being denied access to the appropriate LHR lounges so long as they can produce the necessary FF card showing Sapphire or Emerald status.

I've never had a problem accessing BA domestic lounges with my coloured shiny plastic supplied by the red rat.

True, and it's worth emphasising for the OP that from the experiences recounted from many folks on FT, he will not get access in CDG on that itinerary.
