"British Airways is to increase the fuel surcharge on its longhaul flights from Friday April 21, 2006 as a result of further rises in the price of fuel.

The longhaul fuel surcharge on tickets sold and issued in the UK will increase from £30 per sector to £35 per sector (£70 return trip). The shorthaul fuel surcharge will remain unchanged at £8 per sector (£16 a return trip)."

The increase is only on UK originated flights at this time, but I'm sure it will flow through to other BA flights ASAP after they work out the currency conversions.

QANTAS is reviewing its fuel surcharge on airfares as oil prices hit news records amid growing concerns about military conflict between the US and Iran.

The national carrier has revealed is considering what would be its sixth rise in the levy since March 2004, after US oil prices romped to all-time highs above $US71 ($95.77) a barrel overnight.
"We are currently reviewing our fuel surcharges due to sustained high fuel prices," Qantas chief financial officer Peter Gregg said.

Domestic rival Virgin Blue was also keeping a close eye on the oil price.

"No decision has been made regarding any increase to the existing fuel surcharge and while there is no time frame on the decision, the price of oil is being carefully and constantly monitored," a Virgin Blue spokesperson said.
