I have a flight coming up where I depart Rome and arrive at Heathrow Terminal 5, then have 3 hours before connecting to another BA flight, departing from Terminal 3 to Sydney. The flight was booked, as Rome to Sydney, using points.

Will BA check my luggage, in Rome, direct to Sydney or will I have to collect and re-check it at Heathrow?

Also since I'm on an Australian passport will I have to clear customs at Terminal 5 before transferring to Terminal 3

And finally what's the best option for getting from Terminal 5 to Terminal 3?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

BA will check the luggage all the way to Sydney

You can stay airside at LHR and no need to go through passport control at all. Just follow the signs to "Flight Connections" and you can transfer to the other terminal
