BA club suites for SYD

Has anyone found a cheap way to redeem award seats on BA for long-haul sectors (eg SYD-LHR, JFK-LHR)?

I like the idea of these surprises, but dislike the idea of paying the outrageous carrier charges that you get using BA, AS, AA, QF, etc.

CX is the one sweet spot I've found, where carrier charges are often half that of the others, but still high.

Eg $AUD550 SYD-LHR compared to say $AUD350 with Avios on Qatar, and Qatar has a better product and better availability.

Anyone flew award F with BA recently? Is it as "rewarding" as J?

Slightly better food/seat/service (sometimes). If J has Club Suites then it's less clear cut.
Ah right. I like unexpected surprises, and I know this happens in J award BA, just wondering if F does the same trick.

Not quite sure what you mean here?

The other thing to consider is the route, does it give entry to the CCR etc. If it does, again, it's marginally better than the J and F lounge but not by a huge margin.

CCR, the icing on the cake. Thanks, keen to try this at least once.

They didn’t show up at all actually. Not even as non earning. Nothing on my activity statement for it.

If you still have your BPs - was your FF number and status shown on the bottom? If not, and you've waited the usual 14 days, you might be experiencing the same thing I mentioned upthread.

A missing points claim (using the automated form where you don't need to provide e-ticket/BP) could do the trick.

Thanks for the trick - will give this a shot now!

Did you quote the Ticket number when lodging?

Confirmed now that we have the 777 club suits from London to Syd on 3 November. Still have the old seats from Syd to Lon on 14 October but (finger's crossed) we get to try out the newer seats. Looks like all the posts saying from 1 November they change up the planes are accurate.
