Awful VA crew between Kalgoorlie and Perth

The last time I did QF MEL-SYD I was told the flight was too short to be served a cup of tea. However VA had no problem serving tea on MEL-SYD.

Pretty sure it’s time of day. They’ll make up bulk for morning / lunch flights but go on demand when most people are on the wine / beer. If it’s too short to do on demand you get that answer.

J will get it regardless.

Might have been an employee he moved. I’ve see this before. I don’t think moving friends into the J Cabin would sit well with Management.

Something I’ve noted at many airlines, if other crew especially are travelling on a flight, be it for repositioning or leisure, the crew get distracted and just talk to them the whole time. Had this on QF recently, it was either corporate or cabin crew in Row 4, but the CSM talked to them for like 20 mins while standing with the trolley, he put one of the other crew in the J cabin so he could talk to them.
Agreed, if it was definitely a friend, and not an employee, he won't be around for long; that is a big no-no from management.

On another note, regarding service, I've experienced the CM disappearing (down the back) when sitting in J on both VA and QF for much of the flight, but that's okay; I'm not afraid to press the call bell if they want to play that game.

Longer haul for QF I’m guessing? Short hops like SYD-MEL they’re pretty much flat out getting the service out.

VA on the other hand regularly go down the back even on SYD-MEL. But they do respond to the call bell 😊

A few years back on the NZ red eye from Samoa to AUK a crew member’s friend was sitting behind me and the crew member leant on my seat and chatted with friend in a loud voice for couple hours with cabin lights dimmed and all passengers trying to get some shut eye. A “do you mind” just got an eye roll and continued the chatter. 😡

Usually MEL - BNE, and both VA and QF have been as bad as each other on that front. But then I've had BNE - MEL flights where they are so attentive and pay a lot of attention to J for the entire journey.
I usually take their name and send positive feedback when this happens :)

TBF to VA, a couple of.times the CSD has actually said to biz pax that they were going down the back but to call if required. Also on one recent sector they sent to the front one of the others who were down down the back...who subsequently did a fine job! 😁

Oh yep, I'm totally fine with that also, 100% :)
